Congress of Controllers: Meeting place for thought leaders in controlling
Since 1976, the Congress of Controllers has been bringing together the community that thinks corporate management forward. What began as the first meeting of its kind in Germany is now the leading event for controllers in Central Europe – and a place where practice, science and the future meet.
The current Congress of ControllersHow it all began – and why the Congress is still going strong today
When Dr. Albrecht Deyhle hosted the first Controller Congress in Munich in 1976, controlling was still a new concept in Germany. Around 100 participants discussed the role of the controller in business practice – laying the foundation for a development that continues to this day.
This early exchange gave rise to the lighthouse event of the International Controller Association (ICV) – and one of the most important meeting places for the controlling community in Central Europe.
From a specialist meeting to a permanent fixture
Over the course of five decades, the Congress of Controllers has continuously developed – in terms of content, structure and its significance for practice.
Executives from business, science and consulting contribute their perspectives, share experiences and discuss solutions to the challenges of their time.
The Congress is therefore not only a reflection of economic developments, but also a source of inspiration for the further development of controlling.

Five decades in figures
The figures show how the Congress of Controllers has developed over the years – and how an idea has become a vibrant community. More than 23,000 participants and almost 1,000 speakers have shaped the Congress and controlling over 50 years.

More than just a specialist event
The Congress of Controllers is not a traditional specialist conference. It is a stage for innovations, combines theory and practice – and creates space for real encounters.
Controllers, CFOs, students and academics meet here – openly, directly and at eye level. The distance between the stage and the audience is deliberately small and dialog is expressly encouraged.
For many, the Congress of Controllers is therefore much more than just a date in the calendar: it is a reunion, a place for new perspectives – a real “family reunion” of the controlling community.
