Expert Work Group Working Capital Management

Welcome to the ICV Expert Work Group Working Capital Management
Working capital management – the release of liquidity tied up in daily operations – is a central and ongoing topic in corporate management. In recent years in particular, it has been highlighted in numerous articles as a recipe for success in overcoming crisis situations. The advice often given is: “Need cash? Look inside your company.”
This is justified, as statistical evaluations show: Effective working capital management can reduce the amount of capital tied up in industrial and commercial companies by several percent of turnover. However, implementation remains a major challenge. Studies show that less than half of companies are able to permanently optimize their working capital over two consecutive years.
A deep understanding of the mechanisms, drivers and process-related links is essential for successful long-term working capital management.
The Expert Work Group “Working Capital Management” was founded on April 21, 2010 to tackle these tasks in a targeted manner.
The Expert Work Group consists of 23 members, including academics, consultants and practitioners from various industries and company sizes.
The Expert Work Group provides a platform for the exchange of ideas between theory and practice and develops innovative concepts that support companies in sustainably improving their working capital management.
We have set ourselves the task of developing a scientifically based, practical concept that provides controllers and managers with an overview of the topic of “Working Capital Management”. The aim is to provide current optimization approaches (leading practices) and to highlight conflicting objectives and possible solutions.
