NEWSLETTER OF THE INTERNATIONAL CONTROLLING COMMUNITY |
Monday, 24.07.2017 |
Hello,
"Digitization" is the dominant topic in all areas. Also the latest top current study of the WHU Controller Panel, which is supported by many ICV members, notes: Although digitization is a topic of great importance in most companies, there is an enormous need to catch up with the digitization strategy and invest in digitization.
What all this means to the controlling community? The International Association of Controllers (ICV) is dedicated to these questions. E.g. the "ICV Digitization Offensive" initiated by the expert group "BI / Big Data & Controlling" with partner’s offers as well as coming ICV autumn controlling conferences in different countries .

“INDUSTRIE 4.0” PLAYS A KEY ROLE FOR THIS DEVELOPMENT |
Robotics and automation outperform, backed by "Industry 4.0" |
The German mechanical engineering sector recently tripled its growth forecast for 2017, from 1% to 3% (both in real terms). Robotics and automation is an important growth driver; this sub-segment is likely to increase output by 7%, i.e. double the rate of the segment as a whole. The mega issue “Industry 4.0” plays a key role for this development. As this trend is gaining importance both in Germany and around the world, the medium-term outlook for the sub-segment remains excellent as well.

STUDY BY ROLAND BERGER |
Many companies struggle to maintain asset efficiency, ultimately damaging their bottom line and ability to execute strategic moves |
Tangible assets like buildings, machinery and manufacturing equipment are the basis upon which companies earn their profits. Unsurprisingly therefore, the total industrial asset base spread around the world is worth an estimated EUR 550 trillion. But these assets are not always put to efficient use: the average revenue generated for each euro invested in the asset base is EUR 2.5. That said, the differences are vast: the leader in each industry does significantly better than this – more than three times better than the average, generating EUR 7.8. The flipside, of course, is that many players do significantly worse. These are the findings of the study "The asset efficiency game – Making the most of tangible investments" by Roland Berger, for which they analyzed 150 internationally operating companies from a range of industries. The experts also recommend specific measures that companies can take to improve their asset efficiency.
