DEUTSCHE BANK RESEARCH: BREXIT RESULTS |
What Brexit means for regional and cohesion policies in Europe |
Brexit affects regional policy both in the UK and in the EU27. It has a direct impact via financial adjustments for the individual funds, and indirect effects, possibly influencing the budgetary debates to come and adjusting regional policy priorities. Regional and cohesion policy accounts for about a third of the EU budget. It is a major spending item and the EU’s main investment policy. Up until now, the UK has contributed to the budget and UK regions received funds. Also, macro-economic averages used to determine eligibility for funds are based on the EU28. Thus, Brexit could mean losing a net contributor to the budget, UK regions as recipients and adjustments to economic averages for an EU27. However, the effects are highly contingent on the timing of Brexit and the planning processes and preparations for the new EU budget beyond 2020.

EY-STUDY EXAMINING MILLENNIALS AND THE ECONOMY OF THE USA |
Millennials balance hopeful aspirations and harsh economic realities |
“This is a generation that values hard work, and they are willing to make the sacrifices necessary to get ahead in life. They will move away from home, they will commute long distances, to get the right job,” said Kate Barton, EY Americas vice chair of tax services about the millennials generation after EY and the Economic Innovation Group (EIG) today released a new national survey of Millennials gauging their views on a variety of issues related to the economy, education, American institutions, and the challenges they continue to face almost seven years into the recovery from the Great Recession. Millennials will be the most educated generation in U.S. history, but they are not convinced that higher education will provide them the same leg-up on the path to prosperity that it guaranteed earlier generations.

THE HACKETT GROUP: 2016 ANALYSIS OF FINANCE BENCHMARKS |
Digital Transformation and Analytics-Based Decision Making Among Key Imperatives for Creating Finance Agility |
World-class finance organizations now spend 42 percent less than typical companies and use 44 percent fewer staff, while at the same time driving higher levels of effectiveness, agility, and insight, according to the newly-release 2016 analysis of finance benchmarks from The Hackett Group, Inc. The research quantifies the performance advantage of world class compared with typical finance organizations. For a typical company with $10 billion in revenue, attaining world-class performance represents as much as $40 million in potential savings annually. The research finds that digital business transformation is one of five initiatives key to achieving world-class performance. Digital technology is creating new opportunities to transform finance service delivery, and world-class finance organizations focus greater resources in this area. World-class finance organizations also enable analytics-based decision making to generate insights that improve enterprise agility.

ROLAND BERGER STUDY |
Digital health market average 21 percent growth per year through 2020 |
The digital transformation of the health market is gathering pace. Experts from Roland Berger anticipate more than a doubling of the global market volume from just under 80 billion dollars in 2015 to more than 200 billion dollars by 2020 – at average annual growth rates of 21 percent. "We are currently observing a great deal of momentum in the health market. Young start-ups are coming in with new business models," explained Roland Berger Partner Thilo Kaltenbach. "We are also seeing huge amounts of investment. In the US alone, over 4.5 billion dollars of extra financing went to healthcare start-ups in 2015. Europe remains highly attractive for the start-up scene, too. More than 20 incubators and numerous industry initiatives combine to create a really good environment. Policymakers are also investing: the European Commission's Horizon 2020 initiative, for example, makes 600 million euros available for Europe's digital future."
