\nProf. Dr. Werner Glei\u00dfner strengthens the ICV with his expertise as “Executive Advisor” in the area of “Regulations & Methods”. In this position, he will support the ICV Executive Board with strategic and technical issues and contribute ideas, impulses and experience, but will also act independently. We spoke to Werner Glei\u00dfner about his CV and his new role at the ICV. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Please take us on a short journey through your professional life.
\n<\/strong>
\nWerner Glei\u00dfner: I studied industrial engineering (specializing in corporate planning) and then completed my doctorate in economics (economic and monetary policy). Today I am a professor of business administration, in particular risk management, at the Technical University of Dresden.<\/p>\n

In research and practice, I deal with methods for dealing with opportunities and threats (risks) and uncertainty. Important applications are risk management, the preparation of business decisions, the risk-adjusted evaluation of companies and their options for action (e.g. investments), rating and corporate finance. Many of the procedures are important in the context of controlling (range planning, principles of proper planning, quantification of planning reliability and strategic controlling, which aims to ensure the robustness and future viability of the company).<\/p>\n

I am also on the board of FutureValue Group AG<\/a>, a scientific service provider and specialist for the development of business management methods, whose focus is the transfer of research results into business practice.<\/p>\n

In addition to being an Executive Advisor to the ICV, I am also on the Advisory Board of the RMA Risk Management & Rating Association e.V. (RMA)<\/a> and on the Board of the European Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (EACVA)<\/a> and the German Society for Crisis Management e.V. (DGfKM)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Why is your joint focus with the ICV Board on “Regulations & Methods” so important for everyone in Controlling – beyond the boundaries of the Association?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Werner Glei\u00dfner: The tasks and role of controllers are also significantly influenced by the legal and regulatory framework. Even more than in the past, the International Association of Controllers would like to deal with the development of laws and standards that affect controlling. As Executive Advisor for the topic area “Regulations & Methods”, I would like to strengthen this in cooperation with the ICV Board. On the one hand, it makes sense to get involved in the development processes of laws and regulations, for example by issuing statements (which other professional associations do quite successfully), in order to take the interests of management accounting into account even better. In addition, the implications of new laws and regulations for controlling should also be made clear to ICV members in order to offer further information and training where necessary.<\/p>\n

What concerns do controllers turn to you as a contact partner?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Werner Glei\u00dfner: Basically, you should contact me if you have a question about business management controlling methods, especially if they are related to (new) developments in controlling requirements due to legislation, regulation or standards.<\/p>\n
